Welcome to the Tahosa Alumni Association!

Troop camping is still available at our beloved camp, even though it now belongs to the YMCA of Northern Colorado, and is now called the YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake.  Chris Coker, the Chairman of the YMCA of Northern Colorado, will be there and will fill us in on the major work that they have taken on, as well as how the YMCA is working with Scouting to enable overnight camping.

Reservations for camping must be made through the YMCA office.  The cost is only $5 per person per night, with a maximum of $100/night for a large group.  Contact Shelby Sever, Executive Director of Residential Camp, at 303-442-2778 Ext. 4301, or by email at shelby.sever@ymcanoco.org.

The Tahosa Alumni Association is a group of veteran Scouters dedicated to the preservation, maintenance and program support at Camp Tahosa, or as it is known in its modern incarnation, Tahosa High Adventure Base. Located north of Ward, Colorado, in the foothills west of Denver, Camp Tahosa has served the needs of Boy Scouts of America units since 1938.

Within these pages you'll find information about the Alumni's work, the programs at Camp Tahosa, camp facilities for unit camping & training needs, upcoming events and collections of photos both modern and archival. Unfamiliar with our camp? Check the FAQ page (under Membership) for those questions about what's available for your unit at camp.

The Tahosa Alumni Association was founded in 1961, primarily as a social organization, so staff members from Camp Tahosa's summer programs could stay in touch. The highlight of the year was the annual winter banquet, usually held in the home of one of the members. The founding members were Kenneth Lane, Tom McConnell, Don Seymour and Fred Shissler.

In 1981, when the camp was in jeopardy of being closed and sold, the Tahosa Alumni jumped into action and went from being a social organization to a full-fledged incorporated association responsible for the day to day operation of a camp serving many Boy Scout units from Denver, Colorado and across the nation and the world. It was from this point that many of the programs we're familiar with such as Okpik Winter CampingCOPE/Tahosa Challenge and Big Horn NYLT were developed. Buildings and camp sites were renovated and restored and the camp was brought into the modern era, providing services and programs to the Denver Area Council and other Scouting units.

Yes! We have a thriving population of brook trout, running 10"-14".  In general, the lake is open to fishing year round (ice fishing in the winter!).  Tumbleson Lake is a private lake – no fishing license is required.  Please attempt to check in with the Ranger prior to fishing.  A take-home limit of 2 to 3 fish is preferred.

We are looking for volunteers to serve as Docents at the museum.  If you are interested, please contact:
